“Music in Parks” Permit Category Approved by City of Toronto

Toronto City Council has adopted recommendations to support the Arts in the Parks pilot program by creating a “Music in Parks” permit category that will authorize musicians to play live performances in parks around Toronto.

The Arts in the Parks initiative, created in partnership with the Toronto Arts Council and Toronto Arts Foundation, will facilitate live music performance as well as other arts disciplines in parks and neighbourhoods outside the downtown core. These events will be open to the public, to increase neighborhood vibrancy, and help support artists themselves.

A component of this initiative, the Toronto arts Council’s Animating Toronto Parks program will provide funding to not-for-profit organizations to support free arts programming in selected Toronto parks. More details on these funding initiatives can be found here.
